Absolutely not, but I believe going through life without plans, tools and support is much more difficult.&nbsp;&nbsp;No matter what stage of the battle you are in, I welcome you to come as you are. I tend to combine different approaches and techniques in counseling, including EMDR, client centered therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness training, meditation, gestalt therapy, anger management, rational emotive therapy, bibliotherapy, and psycho-education. I am comfortable working with individuals who are struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, anger, shame, addiction, grief, dual-diagnosis, and codependency.<br>I utilize a lot of psychoeducation to help my clients acknowledge where they can use change, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) to help the client implement change as well as reminding every client of mine they are fabulous, amazing, and can do anything they put their mind to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I believe that people can change, and that change can be facilitated with counseling. In order to create change a client must be motivated and committed to the process and we work together to create therapeutic goals. A trusting relationship between the client and the counselor is crucial in order for therapy to be effective. I will do my best to ensure that an environment is created that supports such a relationship. I believe that practicing mindfulness in order to expand self-awareness and develop insight is an important part of initiating the process of change. Learning to treat yourself with self-compassion and kindness is an essential step as well. I consider my approach to counseling to be eclectic.&nbsp;Although&nbsp;at this time my primary focus is EMDR therapy, as appropriate, I will adapt my theoretical framework, techniques and approach based on the situation, personality and needs of my client.
